Udupi: 'Empowering futures: Mastering Hadoop' talk by Ananya Foundation held at SMVITM

Udupi, Jan 2: The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC), in association with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized an invited talk titled 'Empowering Futures: Mastering Hadoop for Distributed Data Processing in Engineering' on December 31, 2025, at SMVITM premises.

The session was delivered by Khushboo Sharma, Ananya Ambassador, and engineer at Target, who served as the resource person for the event. In her talk, she explained the fundamentals of Hadoop and its role in distributed data processing, highlighting its importance in handling large-scale data in real-world engineering applications.

Khushboo Sharma emphasized career opportunities in big data technologies and encouraged students to build strong technical foundations through hands-on projects, internships, and continuous skill development. She shared industry insights and practical examples that helped students understand how distributed systems are applied in real-world scenarios.

A floral welcome was offered to the dignitaries, and a memento was presented to the resource person as a token of appreciation by Dr Nagraj Bhat, principal of SMVITM.

The event was coordinated by Megha Rani, assistant professor (senior), department of AI & ML, and coordinator, women empowerment cell, with support from Dr Sadanand L, head of the department and associate professor, CSE. Faculty members and girl students actively participated in the session and interacted with the speaker.
