Udupi: Heavy fog leads to accident at Parkala; vehicles damaged

Udupi, Jan 4: An accident was reported at the Canara Bank junction in Parkala on Sunday, January 4 morning after a Ritz car lost control due to dense fog and collided with a van carrying Ayyappa devotees.

According to sources, the Ritz car was travelling from Hiriyadka towards Udupi when the driver lost control at the Kelaparkala curve and rammed into a van carrying Ayyappa devotees from Telangana. The devotees’ van was proceeding from Udupi to Dharmasthala.

The collision caused extensive damage to the Ritz car. The car driver sustained injuries and was admitted to Manipal Hospital for treatment. No serious injuries were reported among the devotees.

Local Ayyappa devotees, along with the Manipal police, assisted in clearing the vehicles from the road and restoring traffic movement. Manipal police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation.

    Thank God noone is injured seriously.When there is fog one must drive slowly putting head lights.Hope they learned it in driving school ?If at all.But slow driving better than fast.One can see the impact they drove.Its only a miracle that no more lives were in danger.
