Udupi, Jan 7: Udupi Developers has issued a clarification stating that the name of “Tip Top City Center Mall” has been reverted to its original name, “City Center Mall,” following the failure of assurances given by a business associate.
Addressing a press conference here on January 7, Jamaluddin Abbas, partner of Udupi Developers, said that on August 26, 2025, he and Kodi Ibrahim Mohammed had jointly held a press conference announcing their decision to work together for the development of City Center Mall. At the request of Kodi Ibrahim Mohammed, the mall was subsequently renamed “Tip Top City Center Mall.”

Jamaluddin Abbas stated that the joint decision was based on certain assurances given by Kodi Ibrahim Mohammed. These included payment of monthly common area maintenance charges, electricity bill demand charges, and additional security deposits for the shop units sold in his favour, from the date of execution of the sale deeds. He had also assured withdrawal of all cases filed by him in the Udupi court against certain brands operating in the mall and against the developers, and had promised to cooperate in the future development of the mall.
However, Jamaluddin Abbas alleged that even after nearly five months, none of the assurances have been fulfilled. “There has been no cooperation, the cases have not been withdrawn, and no maintenance or electricity demand charges have been paid. Despite repeated requests, the matter has only been delayed with excuses,” he said.
In view of this, Udupi Developers has decided to withdraw the revised name. “The mall will henceforth be known by its original name, ‘City Center Mall,’” Jamaluddin Abbas clarified.
The press conference was attended by Radha Krishna Prabhu and Pradeep Mulya.
