Bantwal: Ullal man arrested in Vittal cattle theft case, four animals recovered

Bantwal, Jan 8: Vittal police have cracked a cattle theft case reported from Peruvayi village in Bantwal taluk, arresting a man accused of stealing four cattle from the area.

According to the police, on November 18, 2025, four cattle belonging to Ganesh Rai and Narayana Naik were stolen from the society premises at Peruvayi village, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Vittal police station, while the animals had been taken out for grazing.

Following a complaint lodged by Ganesh Rai, a case was registered at Vittal police station as Crime No. 169/2025.

“After a detailed investigation, the accused was traced and arrested,” police said. The accused has been identified as Zulfan Malik (30), a resident of Kodi, Ullal village and taluk, Mangaluru. He was arrested on Thursday, January 8.

The accused was produced before the court and has been taken into police custody for further interrogation.

Police said further legal proceedings are under way.
