Omzoor Parish marks beginning of ‘Year of Children’ with solemn inauguration

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jan 11: The faithful of Omzoor Parish gathered for the Sunday Eucharistic celebration on January 11, which was observed as the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The Holy Mass was solemnly celebrated with Fr Victor D’Souza as the main celebrant.

As the Mangalore diocese has declared the year as the Year of Children, a special inauguration was held at the conclusion of the Holy Mass. In his homily, Fr Victor D’Souza emphasized that children are the wealth of the Holy Christian community and called upon the faithful to nurture and guide them in faith and values. Special prayers were offered for the well-being and holistic growth of all children.

The Year of Children was solemnly inaugurated with the unveiling of the banner by the children of the parish. The ceremony was accompanied by the parish priest Fr William Menezes, Fr Victor D'Souza, vice president Arthur D’Souza, secretary Daffny Lewis, and the coordinator of the 19 commissions Elroy Saldanha. A prayer for children was then recited, seeking God’s blessings upon them throughout the year.

The celebration marked a meaningful beginning to a year dedicated to recognizing, nurturing, and strengthening the role of children in the life of the parish.
