Mangalore, Feb 24: After a bus hit the motor bike on the pillion of which he was riding, Naveen Shetty (27), lost his life. The accident occurred at the road bend near Madeline School on Dargah Road in Karnad, Mulky, on Thursday February 23 morning.
Naveen was travelling to Karnad along with his neighbour and bike rider, Nagaraj, when a bus coming from the opposite direction collided with the motor bike. Both Naveen and Nagaraj got tossed to the road. Unfortunately, the front wheels of the bus moved over Naveen, who died on the spot because of critical injuries. Nagaraj, who suffered injuries to his chest, was admitted into a nursing home in Karnad.
Naveen was the youngest among four children of the family, and had lost his father early. His brother, Nikhil, operates an auto rickshaw, and Naveen used to live with Nikhil and his mother, who rolls bidis. The other two brothers of Naveen are working elsewhere.
The family members had miraculously escaped unhurt after a huge tree got uprooted and fell on their home during the last rainy season. The poor family faced lot of problems in repairing the thoroughly damaged house. It now faces another ordeal.
Basheer Ahmed, inspector of Mulky police station, registered the case and began investigation.
