Udupi: Tipper transporting stone chips without permit seized; case registered

Udupi, Jan 13: City police have seized a tipper for transporting stone chips without a valid permit and registered a case in this regard.

According to police sources, the incident took place on January 11. City police sub-inspector Narayana B, along with his staff, was on duty near Santhekatte, where a temporary post had been set up as part of Road Safety Week activities. During the checking, a tipper moving from KG Road towards Brahmavar was stopped for inspection.

Upon questioning, the driver identified himself as Shivananda Naik and stated that he was working as a driver on a tipper belonging to Devanna Naik of Karkala. On inspection of the vehicle, police found around 500 units of stone chips being transported.

When asked to produce relevant documents, the driver failed to provide any valid permit for the transportation of the stone chips. Following this, the tipper was seized and a case has been registered at the Udupi city police station.
