Kasargod, Feb 25: 36-year-old S M Mohammed, a native of Alankar-Perabe, Puttur, who was accused of transporting a large quantity of explosives in his car, has surrendered to JMFC court here. The court awarded him judicial custody for two weeks.

Mohammed’s car was found abandoned at Perla, near here, a few days ago. When Badiadka police searched the car, they found 200 kg of ammonium nitrate, 500 detonators, and six rolls of wicks all packed in gunny bags.

The mobile handset and car registration book that was found in the car enabled the police to identify its owner who was absconding from his house. The police were continuing their search for Mohammed but he surrendered to the court.
