Mangaluru, Jan 16: The Sangeet Bharati Foundation, which has been organising innovative music programmes to the music lovers of the coastal region, is organising yet another music festival at the Mangalore Town Hall on January 18. A special programme of Indian percussion instruments called ‘Laya Lavanya’ is going to be presented on Sunday, January 18 from 6.00 pm.
The programme, sponsored by Karnataka Bank, has been conceived and directed by renowned Mridangam scholar Vidwan Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma. He will lend rhythmic leadership to the programme through Mridangam, Udukke, Dammadi and Karata Vadya instruments.
The 'Laya Lavanya' team will take the audience to the world of musical bliss through the subtlety of the melody, the solemnity of classical rhythms and the beautiful combination of diverse musical styles.

This is a percussion ensemble that blooms in sublime rhythm, adorning the melody as an ally, and is a synthesis of Carnatic classical, Hindustani, jazz and Western musical styles. This is a powerful and beautiful musical celebration of various percussion instruments including Mridangam, Khanjiri, Morching, Dhol, and Tabla.
The artists part of this performance will be Vidwan Rajkamal on flute, Vidwan KJ Dilip on violin, Sunad Anoor on Khanjiri and frame drums, Nagendra Prasad on Mridangam, Maddale and Srikhol, Phanindra Ghat on Ghatam, Chidananda on Morching, Gopi Shravan on drums, Sumadhur Anoor on bass tape, Chande and Cajon, Anoor Prabod Shyam on Pakhavaj and Dholak, Sudatta, on Tabla and Anoor Vinod Shyam on Tabla, Tamate and other percussion instruments.
