Shiroor Paryaya decorative lighting inaugurated in Udupi

Udupi, Jan 16: The decorative lighting arranged across Udupi city as part of the Shiroor Paryaya celebrations was inaugurated by deputy commissioner Udupi district Swaroopa T K at a programme held in front of Canara Bank on Court Road here on January 15.

Addressing the gathering, DC Swaroopa T K said that she was participating in the Paryaya celebrations for the first time and expressed her happiness over the beautifully illuminated city. She appreciated the systematic planning and efficient execution of the preparations, which have added vibrancy and festive charm to Udupi.

Paryaya Welcome Committee president and MLA Yashpal Suvarna said that special decorative lighting has been arranged this year to enhance the grandeur of the Shiroor Paryaya celebrations. He also felicitated Krishna Kulal, who played a key role in organising the illumination works across the city.

Udupi city has been decorated like a bride for the Shiroor Paryaya. To enhance the festive ambience, decorative lighting has been installed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lac with financial support from the Udupi City Municipality.

The programme was attended by Canara Bank general manager Gangadhar, municipal commissioner Mahantesh, former municipal council president Prabhakar Poojary, former vice president Rajani Hebbar, BJP District president Naveen Shetty Kutiyar, Welcome Committee general secretary Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, Women’s Wing representative Padmalatha, municipal councillor Balakrishna Shetty, Publicity committee coordinator Nandan Jain, Vishnumurthy Acharya, and others.
