Beltangady: Leopard attack in house courtyard - Man survives by climbing arecanut tree

Beltangady, Jan 16: A man was injured after a leopard attacked him while he was standing in the courtyard of his house at Andeerumaru in Kanyadi 1 village on Friday, January 16 morning.

The injured has been identified as Manjappa Naik (62), a resident of Andeerumaru.

The incident occurred at around 8.15 am when Manjappa Naik was in the courtyard of his house. A leopard suddenly entered the premises and attacked him. Acting swiftly, he climbed a nearby arecanut tree and managed to save his life.

Manjappa Naik sustained serious injuries to his leg and is currently undergoing treatment at the Beltangady government hospital. Officials of the Beltangady range forest department visited the hospital and are conducting an inquiry into the incident.
