Udupi, Jan 17: As part of the Sri Shiroor Paryaya Mahotsava, Canara Bank regional office, Udupi, organised Canara Utsav at the premises of the Canara Bank regional office near Court Road here.
The Canara Utsav, held in connection with the Shiroor Math Paryaya Mahotsava, featured a variety of stalls catering to public needs. The stalls included household items, children’s toys, garments, Ayurvedic medicines, snacks and savouries, spice powders, artificial jewellery and several other products.



















The event was inaugurated by Vijay Kumar, project director, zilla panchayat, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the gathering, he said that hard work always yields results and described Canara Bank as a role model for other banks. “Canara Bank is always ready to support people in need. It is one of the leading institutions that provide opportunities for people to engage in business and self-employment. I wish that such initiatives continue in the future,” he said.
General manager of Canara Bank, Manipal Circle, H K Gangadhar, speaking on the occasion, said that Canara Utsav was organised to create awareness among the people of Udupi about products made by self-help groups. “This is a symbolic beginning. Women have demonstrated that they too can manufacture and market products on their own. Canara Bank has always extended such support. We have planned several initiatives for the development of villages, rural areas and schools, with special emphasis on government school development,” he said, and wished that Canara Utsav becomes a continuous, round-the-clock festival.
Mahamaya Prasad Roy, regional head, Canara Bank regional office, Udupi, welcoming the gathering said that Canara Utsav was being organized on the auspicious occasion of the Paryaya Mahotsava. He emphasized that Canara Bank has always been a premier institution in supporting entrepreneurs and self-help groups. “The unwavering trust and association of our customers is the cornerstone of our growth and success,” he added.
Canara Bank staff member Sanjay Kumar compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
Canara Bank business administration in-charge officer Mario Mathias, bank officials, staff members and others were present during the inauguration.
Canara Utsav is open to the public from January 17 at 9 am till January 18 at 1.30 pm.
