Udupi: Road Digging Heaps Miseries on BSNL Users

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Feb 25: Since late evening on Thursday February 23, users of BSNL’s landline and internet services in the town went through lot of problems, as their lines did not function.

It is learnt that cables laid by BSNL got snapped during the underground drainage cleaning work undertaken by the municipality. People located in some parts of the city like Bannanje, Kodavoor and Adi Udupi were the worst hit.

The executives of BSNL said that BSNL cables near Kediyoor Hotel suffered damages due to careless operation of backhoe there by people engaged in drainage cleaning operation. Although the municipal council is expected to inform the concerned before digging the road, in this case, BSNL was not informed, sources said.

Municipal commissioner, Gokuldas Nayak, said that the personnel undertaking the digging work at the site were at fault. On Friday itself, some of the lines were repaired, and it may take two days to restore all the connections, sources in BSNL said.
