Moodbidri, Jan 20: Alleging that a compound wall was being constructed by encroaching upon government land, including a road, causing inconvenience to the public, local residents filed a complaint, following which Moodbidri police inspector Sandesh P G visited the spot and took action. The incident occurred on Monday January 19.
According to the complaint, Benedicta, a resident of Takode in the taluk, was constructing a compound wall by encroaching upon government land, including the road, near the Kottari compound close to the paper mill in Pranthya village. The road at the location is already very narrow, and due to the encroachment, its width has been reduced to less than two feet, causing hardship to the public.

In this regard, former municipal president Prasad Kumar, along with other local residents, visited the police station and submitted a memorandum requesting the police inspector to stop the encroachment of government land and road.
It is stated that after the complaint was lodged, the encroachers initially stopped the work but resumed construction within half an hour. When the matter was immediately brought to the notice of the police inspector again, he personally visited the spot and stopped the construction work.
