Puttur court sentences accused in POCSO case

Puttur, Jan 21: The 5th additional district and sessions court, Mangaluru (sitting at Puttur), has pronounced the sentence in a POCSO case registered at the Bellare police station under Crime No. 42/2020, pertaining to Sections 354 and 506 of the IPC and Section 10 of the POCSO Act, 2012.

After the completion of the trial, the court, presided over by judge Sarita D, found the accused Selvakumar guilty and sentenced him to five years of simple imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000, failing which the accused will have to undergo an additional six months of simple imprisonment.

The final charge sheet in the case was filed by then investigating officer of the Bellare police station, Anjaneya Reddy. The prosecution was conducted on behalf of the government by public prosecutor Pushparaj, who effectively presented the arguments before the court.
