Mangaluru: Faculty Development Programme on AI Tools held at Milagres College

Mangaluru, Jan 21: Milagres College, Hampankatta, Mangaluru, in association with its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and in collaboration with St Aloysius College Deemed to be University, Mangaluru, and Leaf Academy, organised a one-day Faculty Development Programme titled 'Empowering Educators with AI Tools for Teaching and Media Practice' on Tuesday, January 20, at the college computer laboratory. 

The initiative aimed to enhance the professional competence of faculty members by familiarising them with the effective use of artificial intelligence tools in teaching–learning processes and media practices. The sessions emphasised practical applications of AI in content creation, classroom engagement, and improving academic productivity.

The resource persons for the programme were Yoosaful Arshad, CEO and co-founder of Leaf Academy, Wilson Pereira, and Vishal Nayak from the department of media studies, St Aloysius College Deemed to be University, Mangaluru. They offered hands-on training and shared valuable insights on integrating AI tools into pedagogy and media education.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr Alwin Serrao, principal and campus director of Milagres College, who highlighted the growing relevance of artificial intelligence in contemporary education and encouraged faculty members to adopt innovative digital tools in their teaching practices.

The event was compered by Prathibha D’Souza, who ensured the smooth conduct of the programme. The programme was effectively coordinated by Anju Elsa Thomas, event co-ordinator.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Chethan, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, organisers, and participants for their valuable contributions.
