Puttur, Jan 21: The Puttur City police have registered a case following allegations that Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat delivered a speech that incited communal hatred and violence during a programme held at a private college in Puttur on January 12, 2026.

According to the complaint filed by Ramachandra K, a resident of Puttur, Dr Bhat addressed college students and parents in a manner that disrupted social harmony.

“The speech was provocative and clearly targeted communal sentiments, which is unacceptable in a public gathering,” the complaint stated.

The contentious speech was subsequently broadcast on the YouTube channel “Vikasana TV”, raising further concerns over its impact.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under FIR No. 10/2026 at Puttur City police station, invoking Sections 196, 299, 302, 353(2), and 3(5) of the BNS Act, against Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, the organisers of the event, and the YouTube channel that aired the speech.

Police have confirmed that further legal proceedings will follow, signalling strict action against speech that threatens communal harmony and public safety.
