Beltangady: Absconding accused held after 10 years

Beltangady, Jan 22: Police have successfully held an accused who had been absconding for the past 10 years without appearing before the court in connection with a cheating case registered at the Beltangady police station.

The accused has been identified as S N Chandregowda, a resident of Channarayapatna in Hassan district. A case was registered against him at the Beltangady police station in 2009 for allegedly cheating a person by collecting money on the promise of providing a biogas connection. After the case was registered, the accused failed to appear for court proceedings and went into hiding.

Based on credible information, Beltangady police traced the accused and held him on January 20 at Belagihalli in Channarayapatna, Hassan district. He was brought to Beltangady and produced before the court.
