Byndoor, Jan 23: A second leopard has been trapped within a week in a cage set up by the forest department at Chiktadi under the Herur gram panchayat limits.
On January 16, a cage placed by the department in a private plantation at Chiktadi in Herur village had trapped an approximately three-year-old female leopard, which was later safely released into a protected forest area. Following renewed complaints from the public about leopard movement in the area, forest officials installed another cage at the same location. On Thursday January 22, another leopard was caught in the trap. With this, two leopards have been trapped within a span of six days.

Byndoor range forest officer Jyothi Sandesh Kumar, deputy range forest officer K Sadashiva, patrol forest guards Shruti Gowda, Manjunath and Rajesh, and forest watcher Suresh Gowda visited the spot.
