New Delhi, Jan 24: A 24-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants at a cafe in northeast Delhi’s Maujpur area late on Friday night, police said.
The incident was reported around 10.28 pm at a cafe in the Welcome area. Acting on a PCR call about a firing incident, a police team rushed to the spot and found a man lying injured inside or near the cafe.

The victim was identified as Faizan, also known as Fazzi, a resident of Welcome. He was immediately shifted to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
A senior police officer said that a crime team and officials from the forensic science laboratory (FSL) inspected the scene and collected physical and scientific evidence. The exact number of assailants and the sequence of events leading to the firing are yet to be ascertained.
Police have registered a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with relevant sections of the Arms Act at the Welcome police station.
Preliminary inquiry suggests that the firing took place inside or in the immediate vicinity of the cafe. CCTV footage from the establishment and nearby areas is being examined to identify the accused and trace their movements before and after the incident.
Teams have been deployed to conduct raids at suspected locations, while local informers have been activated to gather leads. Police are also questioning cafe staff and others present at the time of the incident to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The motive behind the killing is yet to be established. Further investigation is underway, police said.
