Patna, Jan 26: In a shocking incident from Supaul district, Bihar, a government school teacher was arrested for allegedly raising slogans in support of Pakistan’s first Governor-General, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, during the Republic Day flag-hoisting ceremony. The event took place at Abhuwar High School under Kishanganj block as part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations.

The accused, Mohammad Mansoor Alam, reportedly chanted “Long Live Mr Jinnah” during the ceremony, which was captured on a mobile phone. The video quickly went viral on social media, sparking outrage among residents and the school community.

Teachers, students, and attendees immediately objected to the remarks. Following the incident, the school headmaster filed a formal complaint with the local police. Students later confirmed in their statements that the teacher had urged children to chant slogans such as “Long Live Mr Jinnah” alongside phrases like “Long Live revered Bapu” and “Long live Bhagat Singh, Inquilab Zindabad.” Students also alleged that he made comments glorifying Pakistan, claiming “paradise lies in Pakistan.”

Acting on the complaint and evidence, Supaul police arrested Alam. Superintendent of Police Sharath R.S. stated, “The accused has been arrested based on the complaint and evidence. Such activities during a national festival are extremely serious. Strict legal action will be taken as per the law.” He added that a thorough investigation is ongoing to examine all aspects of the incident.

The incident has triggered widespread anger among locals and school authorities, with many calling it an insult to the national spirit of Republic Day and demanding strict action. Police have assured the public that the matter will be handled firmly and without leniency.
