Sura Saarava Music festival held at Moodbidri; Kala Vibhushan, Kala Bhushan Awards presented

Moodbidri, Jan 27: The second annual music festival of Sura Sarava Private Limited was held on January 25 at the Samaja Mandira, Moodubidire, celebrating music, culture, and artistic excellence. The event was presided over by entrepreneur K Sripathi Bhat.

During the programme, the institution’s prestigious ‘Kala Vibhushan’ Award was conferred upon entrepreneur and art patron K Sripathi Bhat, in recognition of his contribution to the promotion of art and culture.

The ‘Kala Bhushan’ Awards were presented to late social worker Shashidhara Purohit Katapadi, artist-entrepreneur Alwin Andrade of Sasthan, art organiser Sushanth Bhandari from Mangaluru, and Poornima, deputy director of the Kannada and culture department, Udupi district.

The president of Sura Sarava Private Limited, renowned playback singer Yashwanth M G, welcomed the gathering. He is a recipient of the Golden Book of World Records Award and has earned through popular music platforms such as Zee Kannada Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and ETV’s ‘Ede Thumbida Haaduvenu'.

Felicitation citations were read by Vijaya Padma, Pooja Shetty, Shanthi Anita, Sushma Naveen Kotyan, Vanitha, and Vinay. The ‘Yuva Sadhaka Award’ was presented to young advocate Shrivatsa Tantri in recognition of his achievements.

The music festival featured performances by students of the institution along with participation from parents’ representatives including Mallika, Navyashree, and Shanthi Anita. Accompaniment was provided by Bhaskar Acharya Basrur on keyboard, Santosh on rhythm pad, Pradeep on tabla, and Santosh Vittla on flute. Event arrangements were coordinated by Naveen Kothian.

Former BJP Dakshina Kannada district president Sudarshan M attended the programme as the chief guest. Entrepreneurs Poornachandra Jain and Ishwar Prasad, Moodubidire Press Club president Seetharam Acharya, chief manager of SKGI Cooperative Society Yagneshwara Acharya, and Municipal Council Member Purandara Devadiga were among the dignitaries present.

Soumya, taluk teachers coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks.
