Minor fire at Chennai airport T2, flights unaffected

Chenna, Jan 27: A minor fire broke out on Tuesday in the departure area of Terminal 2 at Chennai International Airport, near airline offices where documents were stored, airport officials said.

The fire was brought under control swiftly by airport emergency and safety teams. No injuries were reported and flight operations were not affected by the incident.

Authorities said the fire was confined to a limited area and did not spread to passenger zones or critical infrastructure. All necessary safety protocols were immediately activated to ensure normal functioning of the terminal.

Flight movements from Terminal 2 continued as scheduled. Officials confirmed that the next departing flight from the terminal, scheduled for 2.35 pm, operated on time.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and further details are awaited.
