Udupi Bypoll - Congress Candidate Jayaprakash Hegde Files Nomination

Udupi, Feb 27: Veteran politician and former state minister, Jayaprakash Hegde from Korgi in Kundapur taluk, filed his nomination papers for the coming Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency bypoll on Monday February 27, as a Congress candidate. The nomination papers were submitted at around 11.15 am, reported to be auspicious time as advised by astrological experts.
Before filing the nomination, Congress leaders and activists met at Royal Gardens Kalsanka, and then moved towards the office of the returning officer. Deputy commissioner of the district, M T Reju, is the returning officer for this election. The party is expected to organize a public meeting later in the day.
Hegde was accompanied by union minister, Veerappa Moily, All India Congress Committee general secretary and in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka, Madhusudan Mistry, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, G Parameshwar, when he filed his nomination.
Union minister, K H Muniyappa, Karkala MLA, Gopal Bhandary, Mangalore MLA, U T Khader, Bantwal MLA, Ramanath Rai, and KPCC secretary, K P Nanjundi, were also present. An impressive gathering of Congress activists was seen outside the office of the deputy commissioner, to cheer and encourage their leader.
