Tamil Nadu, Jan 29: R Sri Rusat, a 22-year-old aspirant from Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, has created a remarkable success story by securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 52 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 on his very first attempt, emerging among the top performers in one of India’s toughest competitive exams.
In the Union Public Service Commission results of the CSE 2024, Sri Rusat’s name featured at AIR 52—a significant achievement given the fierce competition at the national level.

Sri Rusat’s journey to this prestigious rank reflects dedication, discipline and strategic preparation. He completed his higher education at the University of Delhi. He earned a BA (Hons) in economics from Motilal Nehru College, University of Delhi, after completing his schooling, including at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Mandapam, Ramanathapuram district. He also prepared for the UPSC CSE at a private coaching institute in New Delhi while pursuing his studies. He balanced his academics with self-study and also sought support from mentors, peers and online resources to strengthen his preparation across prelims, mains and the interview stages.
In interviews shared on educational platforms, Sri Rusat has emphasised the importance of consistent revision, solving past years’ question papers and maintaining a disciplined study schedule throughout the UPSC journey. His achievement has impressed aspirants nationwide, serving as an inspiring example of what focused effort and resilience can accomplish—even on the very first attempt.
UPSC CSE is held annually to recruit officers for India’s civil services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other elite central services. The exam tests candidates across three stages—prelims, mains and interview—and is considered among the most challenging exams in the country. Sri Rusat’s success adds to Tamil Nadu’s proud list of achievers in this demanding competition.
