New Delhi, Jan 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday invited investors to tap into India’s rapidly expanding civil aviation sector, stating that the industry has witnessed a “historical transformation” over the past decade.
Addressing the aviation summit Wings India 2026 virtually, Modi underlined the immense growth potential in the sector and said India is on track to have more than 400 airports by 2047.

Highlighting India’s rise as a major global aviation hub, the Prime Minister said the country cannot remain dependent on others for aviation-related needs and called for strengthening self-reliance in the sector.
“With reforms, India is becoming a major aviation gateway between the Global South and the rest of the world,” Modi said, adding that this presents a significant opportunity for investors and manufacturers associated with the aviation ecosystem.
