Report: Shodhan Prasad

Dubai, Jan 29: FOI Events, in collaboration with the Indian Consulate in Dubai, successfully organised a mega blood donation camp at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) headquarters as part of the Indian Republic Day celebrations. The initiative received an overwhelming response, with over 300 donors participating in the life-saving drive.

The event reflected the strong spirit of unity, compassion, and social responsibility among the Indian and expatriate community in the UAE. Volunteers from various walks of life came together to support the humanitarian cause, underlining the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives.

Over the past two decades, more than 1,000 blood donors have participated annually in these camps, demonstrating the sustained commitment and trust of the community. All programmes are conducted in a well-organised and disciplined manner under the supervision and medical guidance of professional healthcare teams from the Dubai Health Authority, ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

The continued success of these initiatives highlights FOI Events’ consistent dedication to humanitarian service and its significant role in supporting the UAE’s healthcare system through voluntary blood donation.

FOI Events has been actively involved in a wide range of social service initiatives for the past 20 years, with blood donation drives being one of its flagship humanitarian activities. These camps are organised under the leadership of Bhagyaraj Rao, a prominent leader of the Kannadiga community, with meticulous planning and coordination by a dedicated team of volunteers. All camps are conducted under the direct supervision of medical experts from the Dubai Health Authority.

Bhagyaraj Rao has been personally organising and managing blood donation camps continuously for the past 12 years. In recognition of his outstanding commitment and humanitarian service, the Dubai Health Authority honoured him with an award, acknowledging blood donation as a noble and life-saving cause.

Medical experts emphasise that regular blood donation contributes to overall health by helping regulate blood pressure, reduce high cholesterol levels, lower cancer risk, alleviate psychological stress, and manage excess weight. FOI Events stressed the need to create greater awareness about the importance of blood donation, noting that the donors participating in these camps exemplify the highest humanitarian values.

Blood donation remains one of the most significant services to humanity. FOI Events expressed gratitude to all blood donors, volunteers, Indian Consulate staff, DHA medical teams, and well-wishers for their valuable participation and support in making the initiative a continued success
