Mangaluru, Jan 30: Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru, has announced that one of its junior division cadets from the NCC Army Wing represented the Karnataka and Goa directorate at the prestigious Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026 held in New Delhi.
Cadet Sgt Ancel D’Costa, a student of grade IX, earned the honour after clearing a series of rigorous selection camps. A disciplined and committed cadet, Ancel showcased his talent at the national level by participating in the RDC cultural programme through dance and singing. He also took part in the Prime Minister’s rally held on January 28, which was one of the highlights of the camp.















The Karnataka and Goa directorate emerged champions at RDC 2026, marking a significant achievement for the contingent, with Ancel being part of the winning team.
During the camp, cadet Sgt Ancel D’Costa had the opportunity to meet several distinguished dignitaries, including defence minister Rajnath Singh, chief of air staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh PVSM, AVSM, chief of army staff General Upendra Dwivedi PVSM, AVSM, minister of state for defence Sanjay Seth, and chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM.
Ancel is the son of Alfred and Philomena D’Costa of Bondel Church. His achievement has emerged as a source of inspiration to the school community and reflects Mount Carmel Central School’s commitment to nurturing leadership, discipline and national pride among students.
The school management, principal, Lt Col Rohit Prakash Rai, commanding officer of 18 KAR BN NCC, ANO Teena, staff, students and parents congratulated Cadet Sgt Ancel D’Costa on his outstanding achievement.
