Eighth edition of Nirantar Natakotsava to be held in Udyavar from Feb 5 to 8

Udupi, Jan 30: The eighth edition of Nirantar Natakotsava 2025, a four-day continuous theatre festival, will be held from February 5 to 8 at the Government Pre-University College grounds, Bolargudde, Udyavara. Organised by Nirantar Udyavara, the festival has been successfully conducted for the past seven years.

The Natakotsava will feature plays in Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, and Malayalam, with performances scheduled daily at 6.30 pm. Entry will be free for the public on all four days.

The festival will commence on February 5 with the Tulu play ‘Nela Neerda Dunipu’, presented by Bhoomigeetha Samskrita Vedike, Patla. The play is directed by Santhosh Nayak Patla, with Tulu translation by I K Boluvaru.

On February 6, the Kannada play ‘Nammaalagobba Gandhi’ will be staged by a team from Shivamogga. The play is written by Dr D S Chougale and designed and directed by Chidambar Rao Jambe.

The third day, February 7, will feature the Konkani play ‘Bhangar Monis’, presented by Astitva, Mangaluru. The play is written by Charles Francis D'Costa (Cha Fra) and directed by Denis Monteiro.

The festival will conclude on February 8 with the Malayalam play ‘Kohu – An Anthology on Rails’, presented by Little Heart School of Theatre, Kerala. The play is written and directed by Arun Lal.
