Mangaluru, Jan 31: A PTA meet and awareness programme was conducted at Holy Family School, Mermajal, focusing on important issues related to drug abuse, mental health, stress management, and behavioral changes in children.
The programme featured Dr Survesh Kumar, consultant psychiatrist from Dr Thunga’s Manaswini Hospital, Arkula, as a resource person. He provided valuable information on the introduction to drug abuse, its impact on students, the importance of mental health awareness, and effective stress management techniques. He emphasised early identification, parental guidance, and professional support to prevent long-term psychological issues among children.











Another resource person, Shashikala B, counsellor and coordinator of Community Services and academic programmes, spoke about behavioural changes in children. She explained common warning signs, emotional challenges, and the crucial role of parents and teachers in understanding and supporting children during their developmental stages.
The programme was presided over by Fr William Menezes, joint secretary, Holy Family School, Mermajal. Sr Sabina, headmistress of Holy Family School, and Neelan D’Souza, PTA president, were also present and extended their support to the initiative.
Parents, teachers, and PTA members actively participated in the programme, making it informative and impactful. The awareness session highlighted the importance of collaboration between schools, parents, and mental health professionals for the overall well-being and positive development of children.
