Mangaluru, Jan 31: The Institute of Management & Commerce (IMC), Srinivas University, successfully inaugurated the BCom student council on January 31 at the New Campus, Pandeshwar.
The programme was inaugurated by Captain Ganesh Karthik, former member of the Karnataka Legislative Council, who delivered an inspiring address to the students focusing on Gen Z, digital life, and the true meaning of education.






In his keynote speech, Captain Ganesh Karthik emphasized that education is not just about obtaining a degree or securing a job, but a continuous process that builds accountability, responsibility, and character. He encouraged students to make the best use of the opportunities provided to them, stating that education helps students differentiate between attraction and distraction, and guides them to stay focused on their goals. He also highlighted that a student council is a team that thinks alike, works together, and strives collectively to achieve shared aspirations.
Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean, Institute of Management & Commerce, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of student leadership and active participation in academic and co-curricular activities.
Prof Sharmila S Shetty, head of the department of BCom, briefed the gathering about the functioning and role of the student council and counselling committee. Prof Yashaswini A Ail, course coordinator, ACCA BCom, and Prof Ravikumar, placement coordinator, IMC, were also present on the occasion.
The programme began with a prayer by Prof Prathijna. The biography of the chief guest was presented by Prof Akshatha Y. The master of ceremonies was Prof Hansen Rego, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Vinutha H K.
