Mangaluru, Feb 2: Carmel School CBSE, Kotekar, bid a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing students of grade X through the grand celebration ‘Sayonara 2026 – A Journey of Memories and New Beginnings', held in the school auditorium.
The day commenced with a solemn Eucharistic celebration for the Catholic students, during which special prayers were offered for the grade X students as they prepared for their forthcoming board examinations and stepped into a promising future. This was followed by a vibrant cultural programme in the auditorium.

The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Sr Juliana Mary AC, joint secretary, as the president of the function, Sr Pramila AC, principal, Sr Julie Ann, administrator, Sr Anitha AC, vice principal, Sudheer, PTA vice president, and Veekshitha, PTA coordinator. Their presence added warmth, encouragement, and dignity to the occasion.
The farewell was creatively themed as an airport journey, symbolising the students’ take-off towards brighter horizons. The event began with a meaningful prayer service and a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, invoking God’s blessings upon the students as they embarked on a new phase of life. Scripture readings and prayer intentions by the students created a serene and reflective atmosphere.
After the symbolic ‘flight landing,’ the celebration continued with a graceful welcome dance, followed by a formal welcome address delivered by Bhuvi and Ahana, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, teachers, parents, and students.
The cultural segment featured lively and colourful performances by the students. The grade IX boys and girls presented energetic dances, while a thoughtful skit conveyed the message of hard work, right choices, and perseverance in shaping one’s future. Grade X students shared their experiences and memories, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the love, guidance, and constant support received from their teachers and the institution. Their words reflected deep affection for their alma mater and the cherished moments spent at Carmel.
The merit certificate distribution was conducted for students from grade I to X, recognising their academic excellence. The dignitaries presented the certificates and encouraged the students to continue striving for excellence in all their pursuits.
Addressing the gathering, Sr Pramila AC, principal, delivered an inspiring and affectionate message to the outgoing students. She reminded them that a farewell is not an end, but the beginning of a new journey where they are free to spread their wings and fly in many colours. She urged them to remain confident, disciplined, and focused, to uphold the values instilled by the school, and to face the future with courage and faith. She concluded by conveying her heartfelt blessings and best wishes for their success and happiness.
Following this, the grade X students presented a touching farewell song and offered a memorable token of love on behalf of their batch, expressing sincere gratitude to the school and teachers for shaping their lives.
A special memento distribution ceremony was then held, during which dignitaries presented tokens of love and remembrance to the grade X students along with their parents, symbolising blessings, appreciation, and lifelong bonds.
The presidential address was delivered by Sr Juliana Mary AC, who advised the students to study sincerely, remain focused on their goals, and achieve success through dedication, hard work, and perseverance. She encouraged them to grow into responsible individuals and wished them a bright, purposeful, and meaningful future.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mahin Sarra, expressing gratitude to the management, dignitaries, teachers, parents, and students for their support and cooperation. The event was confidently and gracefully compered by the students, bringing the farewell celebration to a warm, emotional, and memorable close.
