Mangalore: B C Road-Suratkal Highway - Nalin Sets Mar 31 Deadline

Mangalore: B C Road-Suratkal Highway - Nalin Sets Mar 31 Deadline

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 28: At the meeting of Dakshina Kannada District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee held on Monday February 27 at Netravati Hall of the zilla panchayat here, Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, who presided over the meeting, took the officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for giving false information, lame excuses, and fake promises successively.

NHAI officials promised to complete all the pending works relating to widening of national highway stretch between B C Road and Suratkal in all respects before March 31 this year.

“The NHAI officials have been telling lies and giving wrong information every time. Hence we have lost faith on what they say or claim. Hence, they should come out with a clear date by which they will be able to complete the task,” Nalin said. The officials then responded by setting for themselves the deadline of March 31.

The MP also took strong objection to the frequent absence of project director of NHAI, Prashant Gavasane, from such meetings. He severely reprimanded Gavasane for the failure of NHAI in laying service roads at Kodikal, Mulky and some other places as prescribed while widening the national highway, and said that the officer seems to be taking the people of the district for a ride because of their soft nature and patience.

The NHAI officials present at the meeting gave details about the tenders floated for various works including bridges, and informed that road repair works are being undertaken at Shardi Ghat stretch of national highway out of five crore rupees grant sanctioned by the state government. Nalin said he would verify the progress of works at Shiradi Ghat on Tuesday.

When one of the officials observed that Mangalore Special Economic Zone, which has occupied a zilla panchayat road, has been promising to lay a fresh road since the last 18 months without any result, the MP questioned as to whether MSEZ is governed by any special rules or status. He instructed that the road concerned should be laid by MSEZ within a month from now.

Zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Dr K N Vijay Prakash, was present at the meeting.

this surathkal to bc road highway will never be COMPLETE until
    1. bottle neck at age old baikampady railway crossing bridge is rebuilt
    2. NMPT junction gets proper circle and not some ancient traffic lights
    3. Kulur bridge is supported by more pillars.
4.a small bridge at 4th mile (between kulur and kottarachowki) is expanded. its so broken without a parafait wall, NHAI take notice. its broken even today.
    5. Nanthoor junction is sorted out. still so confusing.
    6. Kulshekar lima traders is razed and the fly over is completed.
    7. the road between kulshekar and padil is completed.

7 things will take 7 months for sure. stop talking to the press conferences,
but start walking along to know reality for your selves.

Dear readers, you agree with me or not, we have seen some developments in the past few years under BJP MP/MLAs tenure. If you analyse the performance of our erstwhile Cong I MPs for almost 30 years, they are much better.

Dear Rajesh Kundapura Sir, pls exercise restraint in your comments, everyone has the liberty to express their opinion in these columns in a democratic/civilised way. Just because someone supports one particular party does not give us right to call them by names.

Nalin Kumar Kateel who is he too give dead line. Any one care for him at centre? No one knows in Delhi that he is a MP from Manglore. These guys don't have voice at centre. Gram Panchayat level people cannot give command to High way authorities. Hegde being in opposition is did more than DVS for Surathkal - Kundapur highway. That is called ability. J. P. Hegde n Haladi Shrinivas Shetty are best MLA's so far Udupi district has seen. God bless them.

For people who think this is for Udipi elecetion gimmich First of all BC Road to Surathkal do not come under Udupi constituency. So it doesent matter to the voters there. Secondly people have problem with someone when they want some work to be done also. I guess the MP should now on ask the congiwallas now when to work and when not to work. Like Mr Dinesh Poojary said, Mr Oscar Fernandes being in the core circle of 10 Janpath & Sonia Gandhi all these years what has he achived for Udupi all these while other than visiting or inugerating Auditorioums, Bank Branch's & Kalyana Mantapas ?. Ture said they are just the gate keeps of 10 Janpath. Well that doesent mean that all BJP's Reps were saint also. I udupi consituency as far as I know other than Haalady Shrinivas Shetty ( a sailent honest worket ) & JP Hegde there are no other people who have worked much for the devlopment of the district.

This is how an MP should be. Nalin's bottom line responsibility towards getting the projects completed is highly appreciable..

Congress MPs of the state have become gate keepers of Sonia's house in Delhi...

Nalin, please tell them clearly it is 2012 March 31st.
