Mangaluru, Feb 5: The School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) in association with RGNIIPM, government of India, Nagpur under the National IP Awareness Mission (NIPAM) conducted an online workshop on 'Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Patents and Design Filing' on February 4 in AV Room, Arrupe Block, of the University.
The session was led by Kumar Raju, assistant controller of Patents & Designs, RGNIIPM Nagpur. He explained the key concepts of IPR such as patents, design protection, trademarks, geographical indications, copyright, and trade secrets.


Around 200 participants participated in this workshop and learned about common mistakes made by inventors and the importance of protecting innovations before publication.
Overall, the workshop created awareness on IPR filing procedures and encouraged students to explore opportunities in the field of innovation and patenting.
About Kumar Raju
Kumar Raju is working for more than 13+ years in Central Government Office under the Patent Office, Ministry of Commerce & Industry and presently working as assistant controller of Patents & Designs at RGNIIPM, Nagpur as he is working as a programme speaker at RGNIIPM Nagpur and delivered more than 300 lectures at various platforms. RGNIIPM, Nagpur is only Central Government National IPR Training Institute in India He has done -M Tech in Industrial Engineering from IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas Bachelor of Engineering from G B Pant Engg College, Garhwal Uttarakhand. He has examined and disposed thousands of Patent applications and delivered many lectures on IPR in various parts of the country. He also gave his decisions on various patent opposition cases filed by reputed industries not only domestic but foreign applicants also. He was deputed by government for training at Japan Patent Office, Japan on Examination IPR issues.
