Bangalore: Senior Bureaucrat P G D'Souza No More

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Feb 29: Pius Gregory D'Souza, senior bureaucrat and officer on special duty to chief opposition whip MLA Abhayachandra Jain, passed away in the wee hours of Wednesday February 29. He was 76.

P G D'Souza had been in Karnataka government service for the past 40 years, serving a number of state ministers in the capacity of private secretary. Beginning in 1972 with Shankar Alva of Puttur, P G D'Souza went on to serve ministers like M Veerappa Moily, M Y Ghorpade, R V Deshpande, C M Ibrahim, M C Nanaiah and former chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde and many others, irrespective of the government in power.

He was also an active member of Konkani Catholic Association of Bangalore (KonCAB) and Kanara Catholic Association (KCA).

Born on November 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Gratian D'Souza, and was residing at Bangalore.

On Tuesday February 28, at around 8 pm, an auto rickshaw hit him while he was taking a walk. He was rushed to the hospital, and was later said to be recovering and had even talked to his family members. However, at around 3 am on Wednesday his blood pressure shot up and he breathed his last.

P G D'Souza leaves behind his wife Winifred D'Souza, son Arun D'Souza and daughter Rashmi D'Souza.

Funeral service will be held at Resurrection Church on 80 ft Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 3 pm.

Speaking to Daijiworld, NRI entreprenuer Ronald Colaco said that P G D'Souza was 'Mr Clean' who had maintained a high level of efficiency, integrity and honesty all through his career. "He had been with various ministers, and served all of them with utmost integrity," he added.

"He also extended his help to various Catholic institutions like schools and hospitals. Besides, he was an excellent social worker, who shared his earnings with the poor and helped them in many ways, including getting them married," Colaco said.

"P G D'Souza was such an honest and simple man that his son had be educated by someone else as he could not afford it. That's the level of integrity that P G D'Souza had," he added.

Very sad to hear this, as I’m closely associated with his son Arun, I can imagine how his father was….like dedicated, loving, caring…which I can see with his son.
If someone else would have served this post means no need whole fly to work in future, but here we can see a humble, Mr. Clean.
Heartfelt condolences to Arun fly, May Almighty give your fly courage to bear the loss. May his soul rest in Peace.

Mr D'souza was one of the most kindest person know to us.. and for the writer to say that he was so honest that he could not educate his son.. was unnecessary. Give his some dignity. Maybe you meant well..but it did not come out that way. Please continue to pray for his soul and most important for his family he leaves behind. Losing a dad/ husband no matter what age is always traumatic to the people who are left behind. The community has to support them and help them to move forward.
I want to thank you Mr D'souza for always being there for whoever was in need. You never stopped to help another person no matter who is was.I know that you are now in the company of angles and saints. We will always remember you always
