Mangalore, Feb 29: In a freak accident, a Maruti Ritz car caught fire when flares were sparked off in a heap of litter near the spot where it was parked.

The incident occured near Mahendra Arcade, Karangalpady at around 12 noon on Wednesday February 29.

The owner of the car, Anil from Bangalore, had come to the city on some work. On Wednesday, he parked his car outside Mahendra Arcade and went in to meet a lawyer. On his return, he found the front portion of the car in flames.

The fire was reportedly sparked in the pile of litter near which he had parked the car. There were three or four other cars nearby but they were safe.

Pandeshwar fire personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Anil later lodged a complaint with the Pandeshwar police.

Bhandarkar, your comment has no base at all. You are mentioning stories which has nothing to do with nothing to do with this incident. So be very careful when making comment as you can offend other people.

Boss, you comment as if it is akin to a 'Alfred Hitchcock' case. Put on your Udupi boots for a while and think!Everything will fall in place! Police department investigating the cause of fire-
bah! Hope you have read the 'condom fixing' story yesterday, which would have made'match fixers' turn red with embarassment? There are great stories about our fire -engines too but we will save it for some other time!About the efficiency of this deaprtment in the State please refer to a 'mock drill'story of late, which will mock forever at the Fire Department's face!

It is utter ridiculous for some to throw garbage next to a parked car. Was this done by purpose or by mistake. Anil, you must find out through the police department as to the exact cause of the fire as I feel it is some foul play as only one car was sparked by the fire.
