Mangaluru-Muscat direct flight service to resume in March: Union Minister

Udupi, Feb 14:
In a major relief for non-resident Indians (NRIs) from the coastal region, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has confirmed that direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat will resume in March.

The decision follows a formal request made by Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary, who had written to the Union Minister highlighting the difficulties faced by commuters due to the suspension of the direct route.

Responding to the MP's letter, the Union Minister stated that discussions were held with Air India, and the airline has now decided to restart operations on this sector from next month.

The resumption of this direct service is expected to benefit thousands of people from the coastal districts who are settled in Oman for employment, business, and education. Currently, many travelers from Mangaluru and surrounding areas are forced to take connecting flights, which are both time-consuming and expensive.

The announcement has been widely welcomed by the expatriate community and frequent travelers, as it will significantly improve connectivity between the coastal belt and the Gulf region.

Mangalore/Muscat direct flight should not have been discontinued at the first instance. Why Concerned authorities/Political heads were keeping mum for so long. They should have continued a flight via third a third stopover at least. Only people who have undergone the difficulties would know how inconvenient to break the journey, go through immigration and security check, transfer the luggage and remain in the Loung/airport for hours, the move to domestic section so on so forth. I had a very bad plus exhausting journey to reach to Mangalore during my last travel. Thanks to those who have worked and influenced their position to make this happen. Thak your sirs. 👍🙏
