CCP polls on March 11; counting on March 13

Panaji, Feb 16: The Goa State Election Commission has announced that elections to all 30 wards of the Corporation of the City of Panaji will be held on March 11, 2026. Counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on March 13 at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium.

As per the official schedule, nomination papers can be filed from February 17 to February 24. Scrutiny of nominations will be carried out on February 25, while February 26 has been fixed as the last date for withdrawal of candidature. The final list of contesting candidates will also be published on February 26.

Polling will be conducted through ballot papers from 8 am to 5 pm on March 11. A total of 48 polling stations will be set up across the 30 wards of the capital city. The electorate of the CCP comprises 32,496 voters, including 15,225 men and 17,271 women.

The Commission clarified that the voter list for the civic polls will not be based on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), as the final revised electoral roll for Goa is scheduled to be published on February 21. The maximum permissible election expenditure for each candidate has been capped at Rs 2.5 lakh.

With the announcement of the poll schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force within the jurisdiction of the CCP.

Meanwhile, the Commission has also declared by-elections to 14 wards in various village panchayats across the state. Voting for these wards will be held on March 8, with counting and declaration of results scheduled for March 9.

The panchayat by-elections will cover Ward No. I (Chandel-Hasapur), Ward No. IV (Mandrem), Ward No. VII (Piligao), Ward No. III (Latambarcem), Ward No. I (Pilerne Marna), Ward No. VI (Sirsaim), Ward No. II (Salvador do Mundo), Ward No. I (Candolim), Ward No. VI (Aquem Baixo), Ward No. I (Borim), Ward No. III (Veling-Priol), Ward No. III (Bhoma Adcolna), Ward No. VIII (Balli-Adnem) and Ward No. VIII (Loliem-Polem).
