Bantwal, Feb 18: In a series of thefts reported from Vittal, batteries from several lorries parked along the Vitla–Puttur road were stolen on the night of February 16.
According to complaints lodged by lorry drivers, unidentified miscreants stole a battery from a lorry parked in front of a garage at Badanaje. On the same night, batteries from three more lorries parked along Kashimath Road and at a service station in Ukkuda were also reported missing.


The affected drivers have filed complaints at the Vittal police station seeking action against the culprits.
Sources said CCTV footage captured visuals of the accused arriving in a white car and fleeing after committing the theft. The footage is being examined as part of the investigation.
Similar battery thefts have also reportedly taken place in Bairikatte and Kanyana areas, raising concern among vehicle owners.
Vittal police have registered cases and are investigating the incidents.
