New Delhi, Feb 20: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has unveiled a comprehensive organisational framework to prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections in Puducherry, announcing the formation of five key committees to coordinate strategy and campaign execution.
In a statement issued by AICC general secretary K. C. Venugopal, the party said that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the constitution of the Pradesh Election Committee, Election Management and Coordination Committee, Manifesto Committee, Campaign Committee and Publicity and Media Committee. The new structures take immediate effect.

Senior leader and MP Ve. Vaithilingam will chair the Pradesh Election Committee, with M. Vaithianathan serving as Vice Chairman. Former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy is among the prominent members entrusted with guiding the party’s electoral roadmap in the Union Territory.
The Election Management and Coordination Committee will be led by Narayanasamy, focusing on logistical oversight and synchronising campaign operations. Meanwhile, RKR Anantharaman has been appointed Chairman of the Manifesto Committee, which will be responsible for drafting the party’s vision document, addressing local priorities such as economic development, healthcare and education.
The Campaign Committee will function under the leadership of MOHF Shajahan, while the Publicity and Media Committee will be chaired by P.K. Devadoss, with M. Vaithianathan as Vice Chairman. These panels are expected to drive voter outreach, messaging strategy and media engagement in the run-up to polling.
The committees also include ex officio members such as Girish Chodankar, AICC in-charge for Puducherry, along with representatives from the Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI, Seva Dal and various community outreach departments — reflecting the party’s emphasis on inclusive mobilisation and grassroots participation.
The move comes at a crucial juncture for the Congress in Puducherry, where political alignments and regional dynamics have significantly shaped recent electoral outcomes. By deploying experienced leaders and broad-based committees, the party aims to consolidate its organisational strength, sharpen its campaign narrative and regain lost ground in the Union Territory’s evolving political landscape.
With veteran figures like Narayanasamy and Vaithilingam playing central roles, the Congress is positioning itself for an intensive campaign focused on coordinated outreach, policy articulation and strategic communication as the Assembly elections draw closer.
