Mangaluru: St Aloysius College Alumni Association holds Aloysian Youth Icon Award – 2026

Mangaluru, Feb 20: Established in 1880 on the highest peak of Mangaluru, St Aloysius College has, for 146 glorious years, stood as a beacon of quality education and value-based formation. Ranked among the finest institutions in the country, the College continues to nurture generations of young leaders committed to excellence and service.

The St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA) has been a strong pillar of support to the institution and a catalyst in its continued progress. After successfully instituting the “Eminent Aloysian Awards” to honour distinguished alumni, SACAA launched the “Aloysian Youth ICON” Award in 2023 to recognize young achievers who have carved a niche for themselves in diverse fields and to inspire students through their exemplary journeys.

The Aloysian Youth ICON – 2026 programme was successfully conducted on Monday, February 16 at 3 PM at L F Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. Capt Patrick Pais, convener of Youth Icon 2026, was also present on the dais. The dignitaries on the dais included Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions; Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ, vice chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University); Anil Kumar, president of SACAA; Conrad Nazareth, secretary of SACAA; and Fr Clifford, principal of St Aloysius PU College.

The awardees of Aloysian Youth ICON – 2026 are:

• Viani Antonio D'Cunha – International Chess Master
• Shruthi Merin Lal – Scholar in Anthropology and Sociology
• Ninaad Lasrado – Viral Immunologist
• Swetha Arehole – Danseuse and Performing Arts Professional
• Manvitha Kamath – Actor and Cultural Entrepreneur

The award recognizes young alumni who have demonstrated professional excellence, upheld institutional core values, and made meaningful contributions to society. The programme stood as a celebration of youthful achievement and served as a powerful inspiration to students, reaffirming that true success lies not only in personal distinction but also in responsible leadership and service to the community.
