Lombard Memorial College of Nursing holds regional conference on 'Little Minds, Big Care'

Udupi, Feb 21: A regional conference on 'Little Minds, Big Care' was organised by Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital (LMH), Lombard Memorial College of Nursing at the LMH Auditorium on February 21.

The conference was jointly organised by the department of Mental Health Nursing in collaboration with the department of Child Health Nursing, aiming to bridge the gap between paediatric and psychiatric nursing practices.

The programme began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony by dignitaries present.

Dr Deepa Rao deputy managing director of Lombard Memorial Hospital; Dr Suja Karkada, principal of Lombard Memorial College of Nursing; Veena S Menezes, principal, Lombard Memorial School of Nursing; Deena Prabhavathi, administrative officer of LMH; Kavyashree Shetty, operation manager of LMH, Raichal D'Silva were present on the occasion.

The conference featured expert sessions by distinguished resource persons.

Dr Binsha Dennis, professor department of Mental Health Nursing, Yenepoya Deemed to be University, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, delivered a session on mental retardation and autism.

Dr Sandra Jyothi Saldanha, professor department of Paediatric Nursing, Father Muller College of Nursing Kankanady, Mangaluru, conducted an interactive session on the topic of childhood wellness integrating physical and mental health.

Dr Shwetha T S, associate professor and head of department of Clinical Psychology, Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, presented a session on pervasive developmental disorders.

The conference concluded with a valedictory ceremony.

The conference was attended by teaching and non-teaching staff, students and others.
