Mangalore, Mar 1: In what may well have resulted into a major tragedy, a speeding bus rammed into a doctor's car which in turn hit a compound wall, destroying it completely.

The incident took place on Thursday March 1 when Dr Umananda Mallya of Vijaya Clinic, Bunts Hostel was taking a right turn towards his clinic. The right indicator of the car, a Maruti Ritz, was on.

The car, after getting hit by the bus, also hit the compound wall of the Canara Bank Sevashram Apartments, resulting in its collapse.

Dr Mallya escaped with minor injuries. He was all alone in his car at the time of the accident.

Eyewitnesses said that the bus bearing the registration number KA 19 B 5226, route number 33, was speeding towards the city from Akashabhavana and hit the Maruti Ritz from behind. A major tragedy was averted as there were no vehicles coming from the opposite direction at the time of the incident, nor any bystanders near the wall.

Kadri traffic police have registered a case in this regard.

Instead breaking the glass of the bus, people should have broken limbs of the driver and the conductor and Dr umanand mallya should have treated them at Vijaya clinic. The photo of his face should have taken then..:))

Mr. Mahammad, Dubai/Ullal, you are sitting in Dubai and commenting. Be practical. Most of the times, I travel in Mangalore on account of the nature of my job and how reckless these city and express buses are in DK and Udupi districts. You are commenting about time keepers. Remember, just because of the timing, do u mean to say, that they can drive negligently and rashely endangering the lives of the other road users????? NO WAY. If the bus owners and drivers do not respect the other road users, let them not run the buses. Buses are meant for the public use and NOT TO KILL or INJURE OTHERS ON THE ROAD. Had that accident occurred to your people, you would not have posted these comments. You will know the dangers of the city and express buses if you drive yr two wheeler or car in DK and Udupi Districts. BE PRACTICAL.

Don't ask why the conductor is smiling. It is a simple rule that when you pose for a photo you must smile.

What is happening with these private bus drivers? Are they on a killing spree on other car drivers and motor cyclists. Just two days back two young on a motor bike were killed by a reckless bus driver. I think these bus drivers have no mercy for the other travelers. Luckily Dr. Umananda Mallya of Vijaya clinic had a narrow escape from a serious accident. The driver should be put in jail and his licence should be suspended and the doctor should be compensated for the damages.

Mr. Dylan, could u please justify the reason for burning down the bus??? u think the bus created this havoc. U silly ignorant creature, it is the driver of the bus who was responsible for this and not the bus... The conductor in the picture is ignorant of this publication... y r u being so ignorant???? This is called heights of hypocracy...

There should not be any compromise on reckless driving. Punish the drivers and the Co,which owns them.Because of poor traffic management and control, accidents are increased and many many people are dying.

What, the conductor advertising for Colgate or for any other paste. He thinks that he has done a great job. The public in M'lore are so cultured that they spared the bus, did not burn it.

All over the world road traffic is fast, organized, controlled and accident free.
A lot of our ministers are seen in Dubai, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Mauritius, Switzerland, Virgin Islands etc.
If only they spend 10% of their time judiciously looking for traffic solutions back home.
Karnataka’s traffic and accident issues would not have been so PATHETIC.
Sometimes I wonder why they go there.

The speeding and reckless City and Express private buses are the death traps on the road for other motorists and road users. IT IS TIME FOR THE STATE GOVT. TO INTRODUCE KSRTC BUSES IN THE MANGALORE CITY and SERVICE ROUTES along with private buses in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districks. The private buses defy all the road rules and endanger the public life and property. The efficiently inefficient RTO Officials are the big MOckery of twin districts of D.K. and Udupi. I have hardly seen RTO officials checking City buses and Service and Express private buses and they are VERY EFFICIENT in checking the other vehicles and specially loaded lorries. The RTO officials can not deny this. Will the Transport Ministry in the Government of Karnataka listen to people's woes and take suitable action? It is a Million Dollar question....!!!!!
