Patna, Feb 23: Former Bihar chief minister and Rabri Devi, currently Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, launched a fierce attack on the NDA government on Monday, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order and mismanaging the state’s finances.
Speaking during the ongoing Budget Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Rabri Devi highlighted a rising incidence of murders and rapes across the state. “More murders are taking place in what the BJP calls Ramraj than in jungle raj. Murders are happening every day in Patna. What are the police and administration doing? Nobody knows,” she said, taking a direct swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The former Chief Minister demanded that the government provide a clear explanation in the House regarding the deteriorating law-and-order situation. She alleged that criminals were operating under political protection and questioned whether authorities were blind to the crimes or allowing them deliberately.
“Are those in power blind, or are crimes being deliberately committed under the protection of the government?” she asked, accusing the administration of showing no seriousness in controlling crime despite repeated incidents.
Rabri Devi also raised concerns about Bihar’s financial condition, claiming that the state treasury is empty while the government avoids discussing fiscal challenges in the Assembly. According to her, the NDA government has failed on both fronts — safeguarding citizens and managing state finances effectively.
The Budget Session, which runs until February 27, provides the opposition an opportunity to question the ruling alliance, and Rabri Devi’s pointed remarks are seen as a strategic move to corner the government.
As of now, the NDA government has not issued any official response to her allegations.
