Mangaluru/Beltangady, Feb 25: Two dedicated personnel from the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services, VM Karthik and Rajesh P, have been awarded the prestigious Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for the year 2025 in recognition of their exemplary service.
V M Karthik, a resident of Kumpala in Mangaluru, joined the department in 2008 and completed his training at the R A Mundkur Fire and Emergency Services Academy in Bengaluru. Over his 18-year career, he has served in Madikeri, Gonikoppal, Udupi, and Beltangady. He is currently discharging his duties as a driver at the Pandeshwar fire station. His sincere service has previously earned him several cash prizes and accolades.

Rajesh P, who also joined the force in 2008 as a fireman, has rendered 17 years of commendable service. He completed his basic training at the KSRP 8th Battalion camp in Machenahalli, Shivamogga. His career began at the Pandeshwar fire station, followed by a stint at the Kadri fire station.
In 2025, Rajesh was promoted to the rank of leading fireman and posted to the Beltangady fire station, where he is currently serving. He has previously been awarded a cash reward of Rs 12,000 for his meritorious work.
Both officers have been selected for the 2025 state honour for their long-standing commitment to public safety and professionalism in the line of duty.
