Manali, Feb 24: Veer Soren (19), grandson of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, died under mysterious circumstances while vacationing with friends in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, on Tuesday.

Veer, son of Babulal Soren, was studying outside Jharkhand and had travelled to Manali with friends on February 22. The group was staying at a hotel in Simsa.

On February 23, they visited Solang Valley and Sethan village near Hamta Pass. After returning to the hotel later that evening, Veer reportedly complained of uneasiness.

According to sources, around 12.30 pm on Tuesday, he complained of a severe headache. His friends gave him medication and he went to sleep. Around 2.30 pm, a loud sound was heard from inside the room. When his friends checked on him, they found him lying on the bed.

His condition deteriorated late at night at the hotel. As his health worsened, his friends rushed him to the Civil Hospital in Manali.

Sources close to the family said that foam was seen coming out of his mouth on the way to the hospital. Doctors at the hospital performed CPR for a prolonged period, but he could not be revived and was declared dead.

On receiving information about the incident, Champai Soren left Ranchi for Delhi along with his sons — Simal Soren, Babulal Soren and Bablu Soren. Family members remained in constant touch with the Himachal Pradesh administration and local contacts.
Champai Soren also confirmed the demise of his grandson in a post on X.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing away of our beloved grandson, Veer Soren, on February 24, 2026. He was rushed to the hospital after his health suddenly deteriorated in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, but fate had other plans. Veer’s passing has shattered our family,” he wrote.
