New Delhi, Feb 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday achieved a historic milestone by crossing 100 million followers on Instagram, becoming the first global leader and politician to reach the landmark on the Meta-owned platform.

PM Modi joined Instagram in 2014, the same year he led the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to power with a decisive mandate of 336 seats in the Lok Sabha. Over the past 12 years, his account has witnessed steady growth, emerging as one of the most followed and engaged political profiles globally.

According to a report, the Prime Minister has surpassed several prominent world leaders in follower count.

Among them:

• Donald Trump – 43.2 million followers

• Prabowo Subianto – 15 million followers

• Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva – 14.4 million followers

• Recep Tayyip Erdogan – 11.6 million followers

• Javier Milei – 6.4 million followers

Domestically as well, PM Modi leads by a wide margin. Yogi Adityanath follows with 16.1 million followers, while Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has 12.6 million followers on the platform.

The milestone underscores PM Modi’s strong digital presence and his continued dominance across social media platforms, where he regularly shares updates on governance, public engagements, and personal moments.
