Mumbai, Feb 28: Mumbai and its suburbs are set for mainly clear skies on Saturday, with temperatures hovering around 32°C maximum and 22°C minimum, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). After a month of smog and moderate pollution levels, residents are now enjoying fresher air and improved visibility.

The city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 56, considered satisfactory, with readings across areas like Andheri East at 75, Kurla at 99, and Mulund at 23. Nearby regions also report satisfactory air quality: Thane – 74, Kalyan – 60, and Navi Mumbai – 67.

In contrast, Delhi woke up to a sunny Saturday with a minimum temperature of 16.4°C and a maximum of 31.9°C, above the seasonal average. However, the city’s air quality remains poor, with an AQI of 238, raising health concerns for residents. Relative humidity at 8:30 am was 84 per cent.

The issue of rising pollution in areas like Kherwadi, Bandra East, where AQI has hovered around 320, has prompted action from the Maharashtra government. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a target of 100 per cent pollution monitoring at all construction and development sites. AI-driven systems are being deployed for real-time monitoring of emissions, with most sites already linked to the BMC dashboard.

Authorities urge residents to take precautions in Delhi while enjoying the warm, sunny day, while Mumbaikars are relishing the clear skies and improved air quality.
