Mangalore: Devotees Throng Urwa Marigudi for 'Chandika Yaga'

Mangalore, Mar 2: A 'chandika yaga' was organized at Shree Mariyamma Temple, Urwa, Boloor on Friday March 2 at 6 am. The Poornahuti (end) of the Yaga was performed at 10.30 am in the presence of many dignitaries and a large number of devotees.

A formal religious function was also organized at 11 am, inaugurated by ex-central minister B Janardhan Poojary and presided over by deputy speaker of state legislative assembly N Yogesh Bhat.

President of Bhootanatheshwara temple Yedapadavu, Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, MD of Yojaka (India) Pvt Ltd, Jagadeesh Boloor, Kumble Sundar Rao, Naveen Karkera, Gangadar Karkera, M Janardhan, Sesappa Gurikara, Keshava D Amin were present on the dais.

Temple president Devadas Puthran Boloor welcomed the guests, and Yashwanth Boloor compered the programme. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The newly-installed roof was also inaugurated on this occasion by Jagadeesh Boloor.

Janardhan Poojary, Jagadeesh Boloor, Kumble Sundar Rao and Yogish Bhat wished good luck and health to the devotees. Ex-corporator Padmanabha Amin and businessman Jayasheela Amin and family were felicitated for their service rendered to the temple. Maha Puja to the Goddess was performed after the stage function followed by the 'Annadhana'. Devotional music was perfomed by the Sapthaswara troupe thereafter.

A large number of devotees were present at the Temple to collect 'Prasadam' and seek blessings from Goddess Boloor Mariyamma.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the programme, Janardhan Poojary condemned the assault by lawyers on mediapersons in Bangalore on Friday and said that lawyers being among the intellectuals of the society should not have resorted to such an act.
