Indian embassies across gulf issue urgent safety advisories amid West Asia escalation

Abu Dhabi, Feb 28: In view of the rapidly evolving security situation in the Middle East following the joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, Indian missions across the Gulf region on Saturday issued advisories urging citizens to exercise utmost caution and strictly follow local safety guidelines.

The Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi advised all Indian nationals in the United Arab Emirates to avoid unnecessary travel, remain vigilant and adhere to advisories issued by UAE authorities and the Embassy.

In its advisory, the Embassy stated that it, along with the Consulate General of India, Dubai, continues to function normally and will issue updates as necessary. For emergencies, Indian nationals in the UAE can contact the toll-free number 800-46342, WhatsApp number +971543090571, or email at pbsk.dubai@mea.gov.in and ca.abudhabi@mea.gov.in.

Similarly, the Embassy of India, Riyadh urged Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to safety guidelines prevalent in the Kingdom. The Embassy and the Consulate in Jeddah are functioning normally and will issue updates as required. It also shared 24x7 emergency helpline numbers — 00-966-11-4884697, 00-966-542126748 (WhatsApp only), and 800 247 1234 (toll-free), along with email contact cw.riyadh@mea.gov.in.

The Embassy of India, Amman advised all Indian nationals and tourists in Jordan to exercise utmost caution and diligently follow instructions issued by local authorities. In a significant advisory, the Embassy urged Indian tourists to leave Jordan immediately before commercial flight operations are disrupted. A contact number (00962-770 422 276) was shared for exigencies.
The Embassy of India, Manama also advised Indian nationals in Bahrain to take due care and follow news updates and advisories issued by the Embassy and local authorities. The mission confirmed it is functioning as usual and shared a 24x7 helpline number — 00973-39418071.

Meanwhile, the Representative Office of India, Ramallah advised Indian nationals in State of Palestine to remain vigilant, observe local safety procedures and avoid unnecessary movement. It provided emergency contact details: +970592916418 and emails repoffice@mea.gov.in / cons.ramallah@mea.gov.in.

The advisories came hours after the US-Israel strikes on Iran triggered retaliatory action, with Iranian forces reportedly launching drones and missiles targeting Israel. Bahrain said a missile attack targeted the US Navy fleet headquarters in the country, while media reports indicated that sirens and explosions were heard in Kuwait and Qatar, both of which host American military bases.

Amid the intensifying conflict, Iraq and the UAE announced the closure of their airspace, further escalating concerns over regional stability and disrupting international air travel.

Indian missions across the region have assured citizens that they are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to provide assistance as required.
